BitLocker

The American Cancer Society uses BitLocker to protect data. It is an encryption feature used with Microsoft Windows.

When first signing onto your computer, find the 6-digit PIN to unlock your computer before proceeding. Your default 6-digit PIN is 00 + [last four digits of Asset Tag]. The Asset Tag is a 6-digit number found on the side, bottom, or back of your computer.

Please Note:

  • This BitLocker PIN will need to be entered each time you power on your computer.
  • There is a 60-second timeframe with which to input the 6-digit BitLocker pin before the computer will shut down.

To customize your 6-digit BitLocker PIN

Once your BitLocker Pin is customized, you will be the ONLY ONE who has the pin, and the new BitLocker pin cannot be recovered by anyone else.
